Title: The Camp
Genre: YA Speculative
Word Count: 103K
Drea was an isolated nation, known only for being unknown. When they launch an unprovoked and overwhelming attack, no one in Baile is prepared for it. Nineteen-year-old Celia certainly isn’t. By the time the smoke clears and the sounds of battle die out, her friends and family are dead, her dreams fading in the distance as she travels halfway across the country on a train full of prisoners of war.
Their destination is a work camp, a miserable tent city guarded by vicious dogs and violent soldiers. ‘Lucky’ to be assigned a job in the hospital, Celia has a front row seat to the horror show of life in camp. As she spends her days patching up victims of the guards’ brutality, her anger grows, morphing into a blind hate that gets her into trouble more than once.
However, even when she learns that she is destined for the breeding houses of Drea, she remains convinced that it is only a matter of time until the remnants of the Bailen military regroup and come to liberate the camp. It takes a tragedy in her inner circle to make Celia realize that this salvation will never appear. If she wants to change her fate, she must fight to make it happen. And that means putting her trust in a traitor.
THE CAMP is YA Scifi, complete at 103,000 words.
Hi, Everyone!
I am looking for beta readers/CPs for my manuscript. I have had a few people read it and it has been well received. However, I would love to have some unbiased opinions. I am specifically looking at pacing but the critiques do not need to be limited to that.
I would be happy to provide feedback on your work as well. Generally, I read a lot of scifi, fantasy, mysteries, speculative and psychological suspense. Romance and/or literary fiction would not be my strength, though.
If you are interested, I would love to hear from you.
Thank you!
