Just spent last weekend re-working this thing and NEED some feedback. Anything is helpful!
Dear [Agent],
A defiant soldier, an exiled daughter, a childless mother. One goal: Survive the barren Wasteland and the monstrous Stone People that inhabit it.
Foss Cassidis had a promising future. He was poised to take over Bellum when his father, the General died. But thanks to his pesky moral code and his aversion to killing unarmed Stone People, he deserted. He fled to the Joiners, who, supposedly, turned the once-green world into a stone Wasteland and created the Stone People. He quickly discovers that the Joiners didn’t cause the stone, but they also aren't doing anything to heal it, despite their powers. They bury themselves in books of arcane lore, and refuse to acknowledge that the Stone People are expanding their strongholds, killing without mercy. It's enough to drive a man mad—or get him killed.
Fae Turnshaw had always been curious about the fickle acid rainstorms and strange creatures of the Wasteland, but she was always happy to retreat to safety in Jorisfell. Now, curiosity is reality. The Governor of Jorisfell has exiled her with a charge: Find the legendary Joiners, who—the stories say—have the power to restore life to the barren Wasteland. It's her mission—whether she survives it or not.
Leanne Turnshaw had the perfect family. A loving husband, a beautiful daughter. Then her daughter was exiled and her husband imprisoned for trying to bring her back. She's consumed not just with grief, but also with guilt. She has a secret whose revelation could have prevented Fae's exile and freed Jorisfell from the Governor's tyranny. Determined to atone for her silence, Leanne urges the timid citizens to revolt. It's her penance—remove the Governor from power or die trying.
Destinies converge and diverge.
Alliances form and civil war erupts.
The threat of the Stone People looms.
WASTELAND WORLD is an adult fantasy novel about characters who create new families when their homes are ripped away, who confront and release past trauma, who realize they are stronger than they ever believed. It is my first novel, complete at 182,000 words.
I read that you're interested in [x] and think this novel might pique your interest.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
